Hey all,
I’m currently about 5.5 years in my current role (10 years sales total), in the marketing space (selling marketing solutions b2b) my salary is £65k and with comms I make around £75k a year… the thing is my role is so easy / comfortable I do maybe 3-5 calls a day which are 45 mins each and that concludes my role
But I feel very capped, I’m performing to the highest level and the earning potential isn’t really there (it’s a small owner led company where I believe in a few years it won’t be around anyway)
Now I have an offer to go into recruitment (I did around 10 years ago for 2 years, in the life sciences space)
It’s a big salary cut to 45k but as per current performers and the commission scheme, I could see myself earning 90k in year 1 and much higher in year 2 etc
I guess my big concern is my role is so easy currently, and from memory and from what I hear recruitment is a grind, although worth it.
I’m 30 years old, I can afford the pay cut and again the OTE is higher
I have a few friends out of sales saying walking away from an easy £65k salary + slight comms is just such a dumb move, but I feel bored, but do appreciate it’s easy
I guess I’m just wondering what other people would do?
Do I just back myself take the plunge and grind it out in recruitment and build it back up or just ride the comfy role longer
I have no immediate financial concerns if that makes any difference
The role is back in life sciences in the commercial sector,
Would be good to get insight from people in recruitment how it’s going right now etc
