I tried posting in r/whatsthatbook with no luck. I thought I would try here. My memory is fuzzy, but I will try my best here… A woman gets a new job at a historical house that is haunted. She is a historian or curator and/or tour guide. She feels attached to the spirit of the woman who haunts it and tries to find out about her and how she died. There is a subplot of a romance with a man who works there too. He helps her in solving the mystery. There is not much information on her, so FMC has a challenge finding information. I believe the ghost takes over her body at one point. They go on a mini road trip to meet with someone who might have answers. She had friends or a boyfriend who weren’t very supportive and didn’t believe her and that the house was haunted as well. The woman who passed had a complicated family dynamic. She fell in love (possibly even pregnant) with a man she wasn’t supposed to be with. I think this was a dual narrative with going back and forth with present day of the FMC and past of the ghost. Her time period was 1800s or early 1900s. It’s set somewhere in New England.
