I'm colorblind and on my first grow. Given all the hype around contam I'm a little nervous. What's the deal with contamination?

I read the guide and only saw that contam can kill your grow. Trich is the only contaminant I'm seeing mentioned. I searched for the dangers on trichoderma and it's the same mold you get on breads and fruit-it's literally everywhere, can be green, yellow, or white, and only poses a risk for immune- or respiratory-compromised people.

Can anyone shed some light on the paranoia around contam? Or what other bacteria, yeast, or whatever that we're so concerned over? I get that consuming tiny amounts of toxic substances is harmful over time, but we consume tons of them over our lives. Is there anything showing that a successful flush from a contaminated media is immediately harmful? All I'm seeing is that the contam can kill your batch-nothing justifying burning your house down.
