On the 20th of June all roads lead to Skatecafe in Amsterdam. 12 hours of dub and a second stage playing bass music, jungle and drum and bass on the mighty King Shiloh Sound System.

King Shiloh Sound System is my favourite artist and sound system. Their sessions feel like going to church. Bredda Neil spreads a message of love and unity and has an amazing selection ranging from roots reggae to steppas. Their sound system is by far the best sound system you'll find in the Netherlands and beyond.

I have been raving for over 15 years. I love dub, drum and bass and UK dubstep. I also enjoy some garage, psytrance and techno. I have been to more events and festivals than I can count in a wide variety of genres.

About 9 years ago I discovered Ecstatic Dance and I've been in love with it ever since. These are dance events with a 2 hour DJ set containing a wide variety of genres. The music is built up in waves where it can start with a flute playing, building into house and climaxing in dubstep, drum and bass or psytrance before calming down again.

What makes these events different is there are a few basic rules:

• No intoxication
• No talking
• Dance barefoot

People dance alone or flow in and out of a dance with someone else. From all the dancefloors I've been these are the ones I cherish most. People come for the music and the dance and let go much more than any party favor fueled event I've been to. The dancefloor feels alive and connected. The conversations I've had after the dance are real, because everyone is sober and lovely.
