Hey everyone, looking for some insight here.
It’s been about 3 months since my back/shoulder pain started. I began going to the gym consistently at the start of the year (around 3–4x a week). Then in February, while doing dumbbell rows, I heard a pretty loud “pop.” It didn’t hurt at the time, so I brushed it off since I occasionally hear popping in my arms/shoulders anyway.
Two days later, still no pain, I even played pickleball. After that, I went back to the gym for a shoulder/chest/triceps workout. The next day, the pain started.
At first, I tried massages, which gave temporary relief. I kept going back to the gym a few times, but the pain kept coming back. Eventually, I stopped when I noticed it wasn’t improving, and I also saw that my left clavicle started to look like it was protruding more than usual.
Around the 2-month mark, I started seeing a PT, but I’ve been inconsistent (only about once a week due to schedule). My PT mentioned that my left rhomboid is weak and my left pec is tight, possibly overcompensating for each other, so the goal is to rebalance them.
Right now, I’m dealing with this constant discomfort, both on my left pecs and rhomboids. When my pecs are okay, I feel pain in my back. If my back is okay I feel discomfort in my pecs, and now I’m not sure what the best next steps are, especially since I also work long hours at a desk, which seems to make things worse.
Has anyone experienced something similar? What helped you recover or manage it better?
