Hello GrapheneOS community,

I’ve been thinking about buying a Google Pixel mainly to install GrapheneOS and finally move away from Google services as much as possible, while also upgrading from my current phone, a Samsung Galaxy A52s.

Before I spend the money though, I have one big concern. From what I understand, GrapheneOS can be installed without rooting the device, and I’ve heard that rooting makes a major difference when it comes to app compatibility and security checks.

So my question is: can I install GrapheneOS on a Google Pixel 9a completely unrooted and still reliably use apps like PostePay, PayPal, and especially Google Wallet for contactless payments?

Those apps are pretty important for my daily use, and I’d really rather not carry around two phones just because banking or payment apps stop working. I’ve also heard mixed things online about SafetyNet/Play Integrity and banking apps on GrapheneOS, so I wanted to ask people who actually use it daily.

If anyone here is using a Pixel 9a (or any recent Pixel) with GrapheneOS and these apps work fine for you, I’d really appreciate hearing your experience.
