Did anyone else catch how during the Monday April 27 hearing that Casey Garrett stated there were not enough counselors to be covering the cabins , only 2 counselors per cabin when there used to be 3, with one counselor taking the night off only leaves 1 counselors with the entire cabin for several hours. Mary Liz Eastland said that the shortage of supervision at the cabins was because it was getting harder and harder to find counselors. Did I hear that correctly?
Tuesday April 28, Mary Liz stated incentivizing counselors wasn’t necessary during the 2nd sessions( in the month of July) because they never had trouble getting counselors to come out during the second session.
The July 4th flood was in the second session right? I’m good at catching contradictions and was just wondering if anyone else caught this. That contradiction paints having fewer counselors as being deliberate. My heart truly breaks for all involved and I want to cut Mystic some slack and not be so judgmental but when you appear to be deliberately cutting corners it makes it hard to give them grace. Granted, I can’t imagine the stress they are under and it’s easy under stressful circumstances to misspeak but that detail seems like it would be pretty difficult to misrepresent.
Adding here that the only sense I can make of it being deliberate would be that they wanted both sessions to be an equal experience for the girls so maybe they deliberately kept only two counselors per cabin for both sessions. Who knows.
