Dan is the best researcher of right wing misinformation I have ever encountered. He has also been one of the best researchers I have ever listened to. I feel silly and arrogant posting my bona fides, by I have a PhD and have worked under two National Academy members and still think that. Knowledge Fight was a rare occasion to learn from a truly passionate and deep scholar - even if it was on a para topic, it was serious and valid research.

My own research has been guided by common themes but disparate subjects. I'd say I can study something for about three to four years before getting tired of it. That's with regular breaks and diversions. Dan studied Alex Jones continuously for nine+ years, and Jordan was a receiver of that research for the same amount of time. For both of them, that is frankly insane. It's been years since I've heard Dan track down a pubmed article to refute a health claim of Alex's. When Dan announced his second road trip in a short period of time, I recognized the signs of burnout.

It's time to say goodbye to Knowledge Fight. There are so many confluences at the same time: Alex is a shadow of his former self and is boring to cover, pointing out hypocrisy and misinformation is no longer as important when it's the law of the jungle, nine years is ridiculous to cover the same topic, differences in optimism vs nihilism, and so much more that's already been pointed out here. If anything, it was past due.

Lastly, I'll note that it's harder to keep a veneer of comedy on things when the fascism is so present. That's part of what Dan spoke to in the last ep. I've seen lots of recommendations for other pods with the same vibe, but maybe there's now room for more direct action. I don't just mean political campaigns. Your local food bank might need volunteers. If it doesn't, Food Not Bombs probably does. In the midst of possible future Supreme Court rulings about mifepristone, try and find an org that distributes anonymous cards with abortion meds to distribute at bus stops. They're out there. Marches and rallies are all well and good but mutual aid, neighbors helping neighbors (instead of eating their ass) means so much more. Take the knowledge and use it to fight.
