We're currently in the UK and need to get out. I am a completely different person when we're in warmer climates, like I can actually function and do things but in the UK my body basically breaks down constantly. We can move anywhere in the EU but I'm conscious of the fact that most of Europe struggles with mold.

It looks like Lanzarote or Fuerteventura may be an option though. Has anyone made this move? How is it going? How present is mold in your daily life?

It's everywhere in the UK which means I barely get to leave the house and even going to the GP or supermarket is a health hazard. I'm really keen to live somewhere it's not as prevalent.

I would love to hear stories from people who've found less moldy places to stay.

For those of you who have managed to live normally? How did you get past the fear of it all?

Living with OCD that developed from the mold illness has been exhausting. With roughly 90% of buildings in my area having water damage or mold issues, my ability to live normally feels incredibly restricted (we’re planning to move somewhere that makes everyday life more manageable).

I recently started nervous system retraining, but I’m worn down by the constant fear, of people entering my home, of cross-contaminating my car, of everything.

The severe neuroinflammation I experienced feels like it rewired my brain, stripping away the logical understanding I once had about mold and replacing it with a fear response I can’t seem to reason my way out of, no matter how hard I try. It’s as though everything I knew about how mold actually works got distorted, and that distortion is what’s keeping me stuck.

If you were in the same boat, how did you get out? I just want to live normally again. I understand I will always have to be cautious (testing rentals, take precautions etc.) but I can't live a life where I'm scared to have people in my home or every time I'm exposed to mold my brain thinks I'm going to die.

It be great to hear if anyone has gotten this right.

Thank you.
