Hi Reddit,
Hoping I could share my experience here in hopes someone could potentially relate.

I have a kindergartener in Lake Shore Public Schools. This year, I have approached the principal multiple times only to be met with radio silence regarding issues big and small.

There is a class in kindergarten that was split up mid-April due to behavioral issues, and they have also placed a behavior tech within the classroom.
No meeting for parents or clear explanation about this.

There is a rumor circulating on Facebook of alleged embezzlement from the PTO.

On top of that, teachers are leaving and retiring mid-year.

With the recent teacher absences and the general instability, it feels like a total mess. Does anyone have any information or experience with what is going on?

My daughter’s teacher a few months ago approached me with concerns she has inattentive adhd.
I certainly appreciated those concerns.
Almost immediately requested a reed (review of existing evaluation data) in hopes she’d be approved for other health impairment since she already has an individual educational plan in place since she was 3 for speech services.

Went through the pediatrician first, realized we are not seeing adhd and though this journey have realized my daughter most likely is autistic.
Pediatric agreed.
Sent referral for a comprehensive eval.

During this meeting at the school, I bring up my husband and I don’t see ADHD but do however see ASD.
School declined testing for autism, they recommended I seek an official diagnosis for autism then re-request the reed?
The schools social worker went ahead and did a social emotional evaluation and interestingly, my daughter scored clinically significant on my scoring for asd, teachers asd was at risk and adhd probability for teacher was lower than the risk for asd? Almost not even hitting the at risk mark.
I was under the assumption if a school suspects a disability that they are supposed to do a full evaluation? Maybe I’m wrong.

I like my daughter SPL and I do not want to burn any bridges because my daughters in kindergarten but they don’t seem too willing to help me before I get an official diagnosis? Wondering if this is common.
