So I am contemplating different solutions to having about half of my house wired with aluminum wire. It seems like every solution is expensive, and outside of rewiring, all the solutions feel like band aids.

My question, how difficult would it be if I ran the wire myself and had an electrician connect the wire to the panel? I am an engineer by trade (not electrical) and relatively handy, but have never done a project like this before.

I would essentially be “roughing in” wire myself and probably connecting receptacles, switches, lights, etc. I have full basement and attic access.

Wondering if I’m underestimating the difficulty of such a job and whether I’d even be saving money by doing so.

Thanks in advance for any advice.
