Is now a bad time to be a CS major? My other option is finance 💀(diff universities)
I have a couple of weeks left to choose whether to be a CS major or a Finance major.
Originally I thought STEM would be safer but everyones talking about how CS is cooked 😭😭 On the other hand though my parents told me id be unemployed as a business major....
My options rn are:
Cognitive Science + AI concentration + CS double major at Carnegie Mellon
Business double concentration in Finance + Computing and Data Science and then Double Major in either CS or Applied Math at NYU Stern
Im super greateful ofc, these are amazing schools and options, but also I do wanna know which would be a smarter choice financially and emotionally.
Gonna ask the finance subreddit too i think but a little more about me, I'm pretty academically inclined but I love talking to people and want to work something like that. My family mostly works in tech so they have more expertise there. Honestly though I don't really have a deep passion for any major 😭😭😭😭 im good at math and sciences and yapping and i wanna make money so I can buy delicious food and volunteer and go shopping💀💀
Lwk worried tho bc i keep hearing cs is dead, entry roles are gone, AI takeover, and im gonna be fighting for the last bed in the homeless shelter
On the other hand finance is a business major and my asian parents are convinced I won't even have a shot at the homeless shelter 💀 Also its not like finance is getting spared either (AI's erasing my excel monkey intern dreams)
Thank u for any advice!!
