Ongoing Post-Op Pain
Hi everyone, thanks for creating such a supportive community! I have had 3 open laparotomies in 4 months - once to remove a huge cyst and one ovary + tube, a second to remove another huge cyst + my other ovary + uterus, and then a third surprise surgery when I had severe post-op bleeding. I had an abdominal drain put in after the third surgery, which they removed and as I understand does not usually require stitches.
I am now a month into recovery and am still experiencing pain around where the drain was removed/ where my ovary was. It's hard to explain the pain, but it feels quite deep and crampy, but it can also get sharp and stabby when I put weight on my leg on that side. It also felt like I was being burned at one point. I went from only needing Tylenol and Advil to at one point needing Codeine and Morphine. I've now gotten myself down to only using Codeine when needed. I've seen my doctors about it, but they keep saying that everything seems normal and that they can't think of why I would have this pain.
Has anyone had a similar experience to this? Does this get better? Thank you and hope everyone is doing well.
