Did anyone else have a bad Mother's Day restaurant experience?

Did anyone else have a really rough Mother’s Day experience in downtown Fullerton?

Corazon Taste of Mexico on Harbor Blvd advertised a mariachi brunch and was clearly unprepared for the turnout. The staff was telling frustrated customers that “it’s Mother’s Day” and this is what you should expect everywhere.

But honestly, this was beyond a normal holiday rush.

Reservation holders were waiting over an hour for tables. The restaurant started improvising by setting up plastic folding tables and chairs to create more seating space. They also ran out of most of their brunch menu before noon, forcing people to order off the regular menu instead.

The mariachi experience was also disappointing. Many families specifically came for the advertised brunch + mariachi atmosphere, but the mariachi was taking 45-minute breaks between short sets. Some families waited so long to finally get seated that they completely missed the mariachi altogether.

This is normally more of a bar/lounge restaurant, and it honestly felt like they were trying to pull off a large special event they didn’t have the experience or capacity to manage.

What are some other Fullerton spots families can actually count on for brunch experiences like Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, birthdays, etc?
