I could really use some outside perspective because a situation at work is making me pretty unsure of myself.
I’m an apprentice, and I recently had a small internal meeting (4 people). During that meeting, I was asked about my current stress level, and I honestly said that I don’t feel stressed because I’m managing my tasks well.
Now a follow-up meeting has been scheduled with my trainer, HR, the same people from that meeting, and me. Apparently, I’m being accused of not taking my job seriously and talking too much about private matters.
I’m honestly really surprised by this, because that’s not how I see myself at all. I do take my apprenticeship seriously and try to do my work properly. I never expected my comment about not being stressed to be interpreted so negatively.
Has anyone experienced something similar? How would you approach a meeting like this? And how can I prepare without coming across as defensive?
I’d really appreciate any advice.
