Finally got approved at an apartment in Chicago, this one is in Noble Square, a few blocks south of Eckhart Park. I’ve been looking through Reddit for info about the area but I’m seeing lots of mixed feedback.
More info:
Me and my friend (both 24F) moving to a 2br. We have friends in lincoln park/lakeview but that area is too expensive for us so we’ve been looking in wicker/west town/bucktown/logan square. The search has been HORRIBLE so since we finally got approved we are really considering signing there.
The place only has one parking spot, but both of us will have cars. Is street parking bad in that area?
Also seeing some stuff about crime in noble square, but I’m not sure if it’s as bad as some people say because others say it’s safe?
I know the grocery situation isn’t great but since we will both have cars I’m not thaaaat worried about it as we can drive elsewhere.
I work from home, but my friend works in the north shore suburbs so she’ll need to commute up there. Is the commute going to be brutal for her? She would prefer taking the metra because gas prices are horrible, but is it bad getting to Ogilvie?
How are the busses? I’m assuming we’d need to rely on them to get east bc the only train nearby is the blue line.
What’s the overall ~ vibe ~ of the neighborhood? Are there younger people there? I hate to label us but definitely more of an “alternative” vibe is what we’d be wanting. We’re both pretty chill but like to go out occasionally.
Please let me know what your thoughts are!! Anything helps. Is it worth it to keep searching (even though searching is a nightmare) or should we just go for it?
