Sam was not so great after all
Hear me out- she’s iconic! She literally put the “sex” in “sex and the city” and that she’s not judgemental and all that. But come on! There are so many instances where she comes off as inappropriate and inconsiderate.
- first of all, she openly sleeps with married men. That is a NO NO. I’ll judge anyone who romanticises this shit
- says mean and inconsiderate things to charlotte when things are not working out with Trey and char just comes to them as a safe space.
- got out of the car immediately when Carrie struggles wit driving uphill. Small quirk but come on? She’s overrated as a friend when she can’t even sit in a car while her best friend is trying to drive.
- abandons Carrie again when Aidan’ dog has a poop incident in the middle of the road just because it’s not in her image. Again, NOT what a good friend would do.
-blows a random delivery guy when she knows she has an appointment. She can blow whoever she wants but that’s not professional. Ofcourse ANYONE would judge her for it.
- is very unprofessional and inappropriate- initiates sex when she goes to get funding for her anti drug project or something. I get it that you’re very sexual but as a professional woman, where are your boundaries?
Edit: remembered another incident- in the second movie, you know you’re in a regressive country and you’ve been flown in and taken care of by the people who are giving you a job and still you choose to openly make out in public. I get it - it was a commentary on how this affects a man and woman differently but she did not come out lookin good to me. WHERE’S your professionalism? Man or woman IDC
- is mean to Miranda after she has Brady and very inconsiderate until Carrie points it out. She’s the oldest one in the group. These basic things needn’t be pointed out for it to resonate. It’s basic sense and emotional intelligence.
These are off the top of my head.
I love Sam! But she’s not all that she’s made out to be. We gotta be more real than that. I rest my case.
Edit: my problem is not so much with Sam as much as it is with audience’s general take on her. They’re so quick to nitpick and hate on Carrie but conveniently overlook very real faults of others, especially Sam. The show does an amazing job at putting everyone’s flaws into perspective and holding them accountable. Sam is just who she is and the beauty of her character is that she owns herself instead of hiding.
This is post is to just hold up a mirror against partial and hypocritical critics.
