Posted here 17 days ago about quickswms.co — an AI SWMS generator I built as a $100 startup challenge. Got absolutely cooked in the comments. Honestly the most useful feedback I've had since launching.
Few things people called out:
- u/Structural_Fart_2520 said the password requirement to test the product was too much friction. Fair call.
- u/mxlths_modular said he wasn't going to hand over his email for the privilege of free testing. Also fair.
- u/PossiblyOffline told me to format my post properly because my AI model failed me, which made me laugh because he wasn't wrong.
So here's what I actually changed:
Built a /try page where you pick a sample job from a dropdown and the AI generates a real SWMS on the page. No email, no password, no signup. Just click and see if the output is rubbish or not. → quickswms.co/try
Main signup is now email-code only. No password to create or remember. Type your email, get a 6-digit code, you're in.
Stuff that's actually been working since I posted last:
- Ranking #1 on Google for "quickswms" now
- YouTube tutorial I made is sitting at #2 for the same search
- Google Business Profile is in verification, postcard supposedly on the way
- Had a few real signups from organic search and the original thread here
Stuff that hasn't been working:
- Got my Facebook disabled within a day of joining tradie groups to post about the launch
- Outlook killed my email account when I tried doing cold outreach via Apollo
- Bing has had me marked as "Discovered but not crawled" for about three weeks now and I genuinely have no idea why
The harsh comments last time were 10x more useful than any pat on the back would've been. So if anyone here deals with SWMS regularly and wants to tell me what's still wrong with it, I'd genuinely appreciate it.
