owning an amiga has felt like such a pipe dream for me I've never even considered how much i might be willing to pay for one. I don't have a lot of extra money but computing is the hobby i am most passionate about so i am willing to make an investment in it.

i have an older associate who I know in a casual business context (he sells me used books) who i have connected with regarding vintage computing (or as he calls it, computing :). I knew about his amiga and have soft pitched buying it from him in the past. it seemed like he was not interested.

recently, his health has been declining and he has expressed his interest in selling his amiga to me. i am looking for feedback regarding pricing. i do not know what the condition the computer is in or what it will come with, besides software. pics are all of the info i have on it. i know he smokes pipe tobacco but i have no idea if he smoked around the computer.

i want to pay the seller a fair price, but as I mentioned I don't have a lot of extra money. the prices of amiga 1000s on ebay dont seem consistent and are definitely outside of my price range. i am unsure what is a fair price for an amiga and what is ebay sensationalism.

how much did you pay for your amiga? what did it come with? what condition was it in and did you have to do repair/maintenance? would you pay that price again?

or if you prefer: what would you pay for a working amiga 1000? what about a non working one? one complete with kb+mouse? what about with a branded monitor? or an off-brand one? with documentation? with software?

thanks for your feedback. if you have any Amiga stories (contemporary or in the past!) id love to hear them :) i am looking forward to hopefully joining the ranks soon .
