I am currently migrating from windows 11 to Linux (Debian KDE), with the intent of eradicating windows off of my laptop. I have never installed a linux distro in my life, but i have seen many tutorials on how to do so. However, there is a detail that I am stuck on: how should i back up my data?

In other words, do I clone my data, or back it up as image files. My fear is that if I back up my data as image files using a windows based program (disk drill), i wont be able to recover/extract the data in those files because i will be using a program on Linux (i.e. a program that is not Disk Drill).

imaging takes up less space, but I don't know if it's as versatile as cloned data.

I have an old wine bottle from my grandparents that they used to store homemade wine. There’s a little bit left in the bottle (~20 to 40 ml) along with the sediment.

I wish to recreate the wine, but I don’t know they’re recipe. And I can’t ask them because they’re dead. I don’t believe they kept a recipe, but if they didn’t, I would like to know what they used.

I understand that a bio molecular analysis is a route. But I have no clue if there are special organisations for this specific task, or if I just go to a university and try asking them to identify the ingredients.

If anybody can help me out, that’d be great.
