Tent Stakes in Gravel - is bigger better?
I'm camping on a gravel site soon and there's plenty of rain and wind due for this weekend.
The last time I camped on gravel I had a very hard time getting my tent's stakes (small skinny metal things) into the ground and same with my rain fly.
This time I'm bringing camping poles to make an A-Frame with a tarp as my rain fly does a poor job - so my minimum number of successful stakes-in-the-ground just tripled basically.
I bought some serious stakes but they're much bigger than I anticipated. Thicker and 10 inches long. Should I try and quickly exchange them for something else?
