This is my first time ever coming here or on Reddit ever. I appreciate any help I get and thank you in advance.

Dear Literary Agent,

I am seeking representation for my young adult contemporary novel, Not Yet Jennifer: Becoming Jennifer Book One, complete at 46,172 words. It is the first installment in what will be a ten-book series called Becoming Jennifer, five of which are currently self-published. I am now looking for representation to relaunch the series and reach a wider audience.

Jamie Grant is thirteen and already an expert at disappearing. At school, he keeps his head down and avoids attention. At home, he lives under the constant pressure of a father who sees any difference as something to be corrected. But beneath that carefully controlled life is a truth Jamie has never spoken out loud. He knows he's supposed to be a girl. He knows he is Jennifer.

In the privacy of his room, Jennifer exists in small, fragile ways. A hidden hairband. A borrowed scarf. A diary written in a name no one else is allowed to see. These quiet moments are the only places where she feels real. Everywhere else, Jamie is expected to fall in line.

As summer begins and high school approaches, the tension between who Jamie is and who he is expected to be becomes harder to contain. Encouragement from a teacher, quiet support from his sister, and the lingering memory of a friendship that once felt safe begin to push him toward a choice he cannot avoid forever. He can continue to hide and survive, or he can risk being seen and face what that might cost him.

Not Yet Jennifer is a character-driven story about identity, secrecy, and the slow, often painful process of becoming yourself. It is the foundation of a series that follows Jennifer’s journey over time.

Not Yet Jennifer is a fictional what-if story of my real childhood. The abuse described in the book and the series really happened. The only difference between myself and Jennifer in the book is that I was too scared to transition until I was 40 years old. I hope that readers, both young and old, read this story and find the help and strength they need to be themselves. Because becoming yourself is very important, whether you're transgender or not.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Sincerely,

Jennifer M. Bloom
