Hate Helper Routes
I can’t put into words how much I hate helper routes. It’s not really the stop count, package count or any other volume of work that bugs me; it’s sharing my van with someone else. The reason I like this job is to be alone and not interact with someone else. I just feel like it’s tainted the whole positive experience I’ve had with Amazon. I’m also LGBTQ+ in a SUPER conservative area which scares me that I get put in the wrong van with the wrong person and get put at risk for experiencing harm or hostility even though I hide it well (which has happened at other jobs when people do find out).
I just can’t imagine that Amazon is raking in much profit from this anyways. At my DSP our helper routes are anywhere from 280-320 stops. Most have to get at LEAST two rescues, and the issues with the app linking up just makes it slower than a solo route anyways.
I think most of what Amazon is accomplishing is pissing off their drivers, not like they care. Over half of my DSP’s routes each day are helper routes. I’d honestly just rather do the helper route solo than have my day ruined by dealing with another person. I like my co-workers, just not all day.
Does anyone know if Amazon takes driver feedback? I know it’s a stretch, I just don’t know any drivers personally who don’t feel the same as I do.
