This is something I’ve noticed come up quite frequently in Beacon-era fanfiction, especially ones released earlier in the series’ run. Is this a situation similar to Draco Malfoy when the fans try to justify liking them by making them much nicer than they actually are in canon, or do people legitimately see potential here? Because I’ve got to be honest, I’ve always felt like if they’d been able to expand on Team CRDL more, Cardin might be the one member who’d be the least willing to change.

This certainly ain't the Everafter... Cardin's goin through it.
