I left my country when I was 18.

New city, new system, new language, new life.

On paper it sounds exciting like a fresh start.

In reality, it was mostly just… overwhelming.

I had to manage everything at once:
studies, rent, food, paperwork, loneliness, expectations.

And at the same time, I was trying to stay a “good student”.

At first I was motivated. I had routines, notes, plans, all that.

But slowly something weird started happening.

One missed day of studying turned into two.
Two turned into “I’ll restart Monday.”
Monday turned into next week.

And I didn’t even notice when I stopped being consistent I just started over… over and over again.

What I realized later is that nobody was actually checking.

No structure. No one asking if I studied. No consequence. No visibility.

Just me… negotiating with myself every single day.

So I tried something simple.

Instead of “being motivated”, I just focused on not breaking a visible chain.

Even if it’s just 20–30 minutes of real study, it counts.

If I show up, I keep going.
If I don’t, it resets.

And weirdly… that changed how I behave.

It’s not about studying more.

It’s about not disappearing from your own system.

I also noticed something else:
seeing other people studying at the same time makes it easier to stay in it. Like you’re not alone doing it.

Anyway, I’ve been using this small setup lately and it’s been helping me stay way more stable than anything I tried before.

If anyone here struggles with the same “start / stop / restart” cycle, I’m curious:

what actually keeps you consistent when no one is watching?

(I can share what I’m using in the comments if anyone wants it)
