I've had a 2016 Audi A6 3.0T CREC Premium Plus for a while now & love my car. I took a new job with a decent commute and I'm looking at the E85 tunes available mostly to reduce commuting costs
I recently tried out +3.5g of E85 to mix with the 91 CA premium gas I usually use and it didn't seem to affect my normal driving much at all. I lose ~ maybe 3 mpg but the difference in price ( 2.99 vs 6.59 ) is significant enough to be worth it. From reviews and what I've read this car and motor and very happy with E85 tunes stock. This is my daily driver so while performance gains are nice, its not the main reason I'm doing it.
Comparing tune options:
IE has a CREC Stage 1 E85 tune.
Jackel Motorsports has a Stage 1 E85 tune
034 Motorsports has a Stage 1 E85 tune
Jackal Motorsports locks the supercharger clutch. I'm not really a fan of that.
All seem to require internet access and a server connection. My preference would be for a one time download and ability to program without the internet, in case the company went out of business.
034 describes a Dynamic and a Comfort mode optimization, that would be a plus for me to have a less aggressive drive profile I could select.
IEs tune has a cooling feature so when in ACC its cools. This is cool but not really something I'd use.
034 Motorsports monitors charge air temp and reduces coolant targets, I like this from a safety and reliability perspective.
They all seem to suggest a transmission tune with it and while I'm not opposed to it the idea of it, increasing pressure for faster shifts has me wondering about reliability.
Am I missing other options? Is there anything else I should consider? If I am mainly looking for a E85 tune without hurting reliability, is a Stage 1 tune my only option? It seems like I need a way to adjust the AFR target & open loop fuel map.
I already have a odbii ready and already disabled the start/stop, so that tune feature isn't a plus for me. If I could adjust the AFR target trough an adaption write Id try that.
I'd love the community's take on this.
