First of all, thank you to the community for all the support with my mods so far. I made this new mod to give an alternative to the vanilla Skills tree, providing more unique modifiers, especially in the Combat skills tree.

All existing Combat skills except Crippling have been improved, and 13 new melee skills have been added to make melee combat a viable option for those who enjoy Hacking 'N Slashing.

Many non-Combat skills have been improved as well, such as the Surveying skill seeing a major improvement to range and a big buff to the zoom feature of your hand scanner.

The full list of changes, bug fixes to the vanilla skill trees and overall improvements can be found on the Nexus Mods and Creations web pages for this mod.

I enjoyed creating this mod, and hope the community enjoys it as well.

Cheers!

Recommended Pairing

Using the Formless Gameplay Settings Expanded mod alongside this mod is a perfect way to control how much damage you and enemies do, both in and out of the pilot seat, allowing you to control the game's balance to your own preference.

My Gameplay Settings mod gives far more control than the vanilla difficulty/damage sliders.

Wish the galaxy's vendors had more credits? Want them to have an amount of credits that compares more reasonably to the value of their stock? Want them to have loads of credits so you can reduce the running around to sell your loot?

Galaxy of Diamonds gives you the control to set how much credits they have available using the Gameplay Settings menu vanilla Vendor Credits option.

Details

This mod overhauls how many credits all vendors have available to trade with, from a more reasonable amount, to making them wealthy.

The mod balances different vendor types and their economic status, so Jane's Goods in Cydonia will be poor compared to Jemison Mercantile.

You can control all vendors' available credits using the Vendor Credits setting in Gameplay Settings, which gives you 4 settings in total.

The best example of what the mod does:

  • In the vanilla game, the Trade Authority is the richest. The same is true in this mod
  • With this mod, the Trade Authority will no longer have a lower limit of 11,000 credits, at the lowest setting they will have 400,000 credits
  • At the highest setting, the Trade Authority will have 4,000,000 credits

Outpost Shipbuilder

In the base game the Outpost Landing Pad with Shipbuilder has no credits. This mod adds a script that gives the shipbuilder more than enough credits to buy all the ships you've collected or commandeered. The script refreshes the Shipbuilder's credits every time you open the terminal.

Compatibility

  • Highly compatible with mods that alter the vendors
  • Works well alongside mods that chance the galaxy's economy

Formless Gameplay Settings Expanded provides many options in the gameplay settings menu to tweak your gameplay to your own tastes.

New Additions To The Mod

  • A Free Lanes Space Encounter slider to alter the chances of encounters from the update
  • Cargo Links Limit slider that alters how many cargo links you can have, from 3 to 12. Does not affect the Outpost Engineering skill
  • Crew Stations Limit slider allowing between 3 to 15 crew stations. Also not affecting the Outpost Engineering skill
  • Mannequins Limit slider allows you to set how many mannequins you can place at an outpost, from 6 to 24
  • Robots Limit slider the changes how many robots you can place at an outpost, from 3 to 15. No change to the Outpost Engineering skill
  • Turrets Limit slider, allowing 6 to 24 turrets at an outpost
  • Milliwhale Pets & Bowls slider that allows you to have 1 to 16 Milliwhales and bowls at all of your outposts combined. Not per outpost. Due to a limitation in Bethesda's design for Milliwhale Pets, if you change the skin/appearance of one Milliwhale, the rest will eventually have that same skin as well

Features From The Original Mod

There are 4 sliders for altering difficulty that change the damage the player deals and receives, in and out of the pilot seat. There are 8 settings for each of these sliders, and they are intended to replace the Vanilla difficulty sliders for those who want a greater challenge or more control.

The damage sliders are great for mod setups that can leave you over-powered or for players with combat skills that defeat the AI too easily.

  • Player Damage Dealt slider that controls how much damage the player deals on foot from the default of 100% damage dealt down to 3%. Again, with a total of 8 settings. The related Vanilla difficulty slider goes to 25% damage dealt.
  • Player Damage Received slider controls how much damage enemies deal to you on foot, from 100% up to 800% normal damage. Vanilla reaches 400% damage at the Extreme setting.
  • Ship Damage Dealt slider controls how much damage your ship weapons deal, from 100% down to 3% of normal. On Extreme, the Vanilla setting caps at 25% damage.
  • Ship Damage Received slider controls how much damage enemy ships deal to you, from 100% to 800%. Vanilla Extreme they deal 400% normal damage.
  • Space Encounter Chance slider alters the overall chances of different Vanilla space encounters
  • Global Space Encounter slider alters the frequency of different space encounters, as well as the frequency of some modded space encounters
  • Experience Boost slider that can alter the total experience you receive from all sources should you choose. This is a cheat/utility option, and a backup save is highly recommended before using it. The XP boost can range from 100% (normal XP) to 1,000% XP.

Compatibility

  • Vanilla difficulty settings are unchanged
  • Enemies are not edited. The damage sliders use multipliers only for broad compatibility
  • Works great when using mods that increase player & ship power

Formless Shipyards 2.0 Just Released

New to the this mod's already large selection of new ship modules are 8 unique ship weapons designed to expand players' space battle tactical options.

This mod only adds new ship module variants that will never conflict with other mods.

New Weapons

8 new custom weapons to choose from, with 3 variants for each:

  • Shadowfire Beam - Like the Starborns' Solar Flare Beam, this weapon instead deals particle damage. Due to game engine limitations, only one Continuous Beam in a weapon group will fire at a time, so this weapon is designed to be a single-mount needing 12 power that deals absolute destruction.
  • Shadowfire Beam Turret - Like the static Shadowfire, this weapon is also intended as a single-mount. However, despite the limitations to one Continuous Beam in a weapon group firing at a time, you can use this Shadowfire turret alongside the static Shadowfire and have both work at the same time.
  • Nullstrike Laser - A powerful choice for any pilot wanting to disable enemy ships, this laser will strip enemy shields while also disabling their ship systems with EM damage.
  • Arcstorm Missile Rack - Fires seeking missiles that track a target and damages their ship systems with EM damage without damaging the ship. Commandeer away, good pirate.
  • Nova Warhead Launcher - A non-seeking large warhead that delivers massive EM damage in a wide blast radius of up to 1 Kilometre. All ships within the warhead's shockwave will feel your wrath on their ship systems.
  • Cataclysm Warhead Launcher - This launcher fires a nuclear warhead that may not seek your targets like a missile, but when aimed well, it will deliver a massive explosive blast in a wide radius of up to 1 Kilometre. Make sure you aren't caught within the shockwave.
  • Night Owl Launcher - Also a nuclear warhead launcher, but this one will seek its targets with deadly precision. It may deliver a smaller nuclear payload than the Cataclysm and have a lesser blast radius of up to 800 Metres, but it is definitely an efficient killing device.
  • Hurricane Ion Turret - Not as fancy as the other 7 weapons, but it's still a high-powered particle beam turret that will destroy your enemies while you fly one-handed enjoying your coffee.

Mod-Pairing Recommendation

It's highly recommended to pair Formless Shipyards with Formless Gameplay Settings Expanded, since the Shipyards mod ship modules are almost all over-powered by design.

The Gameplay Settings mod will allow you to adjust the difficulty of space combat in a much larger way than the base game's Vanilla difficulty sliders can.

Full List Of Ship Modules

The rest of the mod's ship modules range from roughly Vanilla-powered in balance, to over-powered. This over-powered design was to change space combat in a large way, but intended to include the use of the above-mentioned Gameplay Settings mod to balance space combat to the player's preference.

  • 12 new reactor variants
  • 12 new shield variants
  • 12 new grav drive variants
  • 12 new engine variants
  • 5 new M-Class weapons retro-fitted for A-Class reactors
  • 15 other new ship weapons for A-Class reactors, for a total of 44 new weapon variants overall
  • 5 new fuel tanks
  • 4 new shielded cargo holds
  • All landing gear variants available with 10 thrust. New assets, Vanilla landing gear was untouched
  • A few new structural components that have 25 Crew Stations, 25 Crew Capacity & 25 Passenger Slots

Where To Get The New Ship Modules

They are available at various Ship Technicians, however all modules can be purchased at an Outpost's Landing Pad with Shipbuilder.
