I struggled with my Alipay/Wechat pay getting denied throughout my trip, but by the end was able to get things mostly working.

One thing I never got working were the “self service” vending machines where you click a button to unlock the fridge then take whatever.

Do these just not work for foreigners? It seems to use a “credit” system which you have to build up on the apps but I after 3 weeks of payments I still could not use the vending machines.
