What suitable careers are in history?
Lately I've been wondering about my career path, because I've been wanting to pursue a career in history.
After doing some research online, it's come to my attention that finding a well paid, not highly competitive and overworked job in history is extremely hard to come by, but somehow teaching is starting to look like the lesser of many evils (despite the many people who warn against going into teaching secondary education) simply because everything else is either part time or borderline impossible to get into without being ridiculously overqualified.
I've also recently been struggling with my health, and it is highly likely that I have a chronic autoimmune health condition, which I know can impact my options slightly (not sob storying, just giving the full picture).
I am aware that teaching is an incredibly hard job, and requires a lot of work both inside and outside the classroom, which often results in burnout early on. This has completely scared me off even thinking about trying it, but the more I look into my options the less choices it seems I have.
I would honestly prefer to be a tour guide, since I am highly sociable and passionate about historical artifacts and sites, or work in a museum in general, but these jobs are often underpaid for the qualifications they require.
Opinions?
