Shihtzu puppy, 6 weeks. Found on Friday hiding with poop on her butt. Cleaned up identified as not doing well in the middle of beginning to wean. Figured it was weaning stress or something like that. Kept up with food, formula, water, honey water. Sunday night bruising and redness appeared on stomach and swelling near anus and vagina. Monday saw vet and said external trauma likely caused by mom stepping on her, prescribed 0.05ml gabapentin and recovery food. Saw another vet today said it was a burn from heating pad (yeah I know first time litter haver here). Gave her warm bath tonight trying to stimulate pooping and clean her off. Hair starting falling off, and we discovered purple skin with some tracts and spots on her hind quarter. Swelling near anus and vagina are not looking good either.
Some info:
she nursed well.
X-ray indicated no hernia or perforations.
Diarrhea, other times struggling to defecate. Stool started as mucous and little green and progressed to yellow-brown no blood.
Vomits from time to time.
No problem urinating. Clear, yellow.
Vet Monday no fever normal heart rate.
2 pounds noted very healthy.
Responds well to food and water.
Still active in trying to nurse from mother.
Mother licks and cleans has not abandoned.
Very thirsty for water.
Does not want food.
Shaking and cold at times.
Quiet.
Lethargic but will get up and walk around, see other littermates, wag her tail.
All animals in house have shots up to date.
All other puppies are healthy and active.
She isn’t for sale she is for us to keep as a forever pet.
