Set up an automated YouTube Shorts channel 3 months ago as an experiment — here's what actually happened

Saw a post here a while back about repurposing short-form content to YouTube Shorts. Decided to actually try it instead of just upvoting.

The setup: find well-performing TikToks in a niche, strip the watermark, auto-post to YouTube on a schedule. I picked cooking clips because the content is evergreen and there's infinite supply. I use animals videos on my main account tho.

3 months in:

  • ~600 subs
  • 1.8M Shorts views
  • $0 earned yet (not monetized)
  • Time spent per week: maybe 5 minutes checking the queue

Honest take — it's not "passive income" yet, it's passive momentum. The monetization threshold is real and takes time. But the channel is growing without me touching it, which feels insane.

If you're looking for a quick cash flip this isn't it. If you're okay playing a 6-month game, it's pretty compelling. Lowk cool
