PWM Pathway using MM

I wanted to give a heads up to anyone considering the MM Level III Private Wealth pathway materials as their primary learning source.

I used MM successfully for Levels I & II and found the platform extremely valuable, especially for simplifying the curriculum and creating an efficient first pass through the material. Unfortunately, my experience with the PWM pathway videos has been very different so far.

The biggest issue is that the lectures often feel heavily dependent on the CFA curriculum itself rather than functioning as a true standalone teaching supplement. The instructor frequently defers back to the text whenever exhibits or examples appear and will sometimes say things along the lines of “you can read through this on your own time.” There are also instances where curriculum practice questions are solved using information that hasn’t actually been explained yet, with comments like “you’ll understand this once you go through the exhibits.”

For me personally, that defeats much of the purpose of paying for a third-party prep provider. I use lecture services like MM to consolidate and simplify the curriculum - not to constantly bounce back and forth between videos and the official text just to fully understand an LOS.

Another issue I’ve noticed is the inclusion of personal industry opinions that occasionally differ from curriculum defined ranges or terminology. While those perspectives may be valid in practice, they can become counterproductive for exam prep when candidates ultimately need to know the CFAI answer on exam day.

To be clear, this isn’t meant as a criticism of MM overall. I still think the platform was excellent for Levels I & II. But if you’re choosing the PWM pathway and expecting the same style of detailed, self-contained instruction, I’d strongly recommend relying heavily on the CFA curriculum alongside the videos rather than expecting the lectures to fully carry the material on their own.

Curious if anyone else taking the PWM pathway has had a similar experience, and if there are other services you would recommend instead of MM for the pathway specifically.
