TIL that without a small, U-shaped piece of foam, Max Verstappen would probably never have been born

I'm reading Sid Watkins' Beyond the Limit and he talks about the F1 teams hating the headrest in the 1990s. One team boss told him it had cost his team $1m in development costs, but the science was there and Max Mosley insisted.

It became mandatory in 1996 and that season Jos Verstappen has a massive crash at Spa that season - luckily very close to the medical centre. Watkins said that without the headrest Jos would either have been dead or seriously brain damaged without the headrest. Max was born over a year later.

No spoilers please on the rest of the book but it's a fascinating, if occasionally dry, read.

Cat is pooing in unusual places

So this morning Stumpy started a new yowl, similar to the one she does when she pukes, but then shat on my wife's foot when she went to investigate. We've also found nuggets in her cat basket recently.

She's 18ish (ex-feral) but seems in good health with OK blood work - a kidney issue that we're medicating her for but otherwise fine. Should we be booking a vet appointment?
