Hi all, looking for some advice from HR professionals or anyone who’s dealt with voluntary departure programs.

My company recently launched a VDP offering roughly 4 weeks per year of service. I’m mid-career with several years of tenure and currently at a manager level.

In a previous version of this program a few years ago, there was also an additional flat payment on top of the base amount, with higher amounts for more senior roles. The current offer doesn’t include that component.

At the current level, the package doesn’t feel like enough incentive for me to opt in, but I would consider it if there was some flexibility.

My questions:
- Are VDP packages typically negotiable, or are they usually fixed?
- Is it reasonable to ask for adjustments based on level/tenure or past program structure?
- Has anyone seen success getting additional compensation in situations like this?
- Any tips on how to approach HR without coming across as difficult?

Appreciate any insight - just trying to understand what’s realistic here before I push further internally. Thanks!
