When did the "clean wehrmacht" myth and Rommel apologism start falling apart?
I know these are postwar fabrications with the purpose of forming a united NATO front against the USSR, and that they were at their height in the 50s and 60s... but when did scrutiny really hit? Even in the 2000s from personal experience it seemed these misconceptions were alive and well, and that only in the last decade they started coming under major fire. Did their downfall only happen recently or was it decades ago?
