I've recently committed to UCSB, and submitted my SLR 1 day late (May 2nd) and thought I had gotten over with it, albeit a bit worried because I assumed it was a hard deadline. However, when I came to check, I had to submit documents to prove my CA residency and fulfill 4 requirements which I'm confused on how to prove.

1. Physical Presence: Would high school transcripts and/or banking documents such as paychecks showing my California address be sufficient?

2. Intent: Can I submit my parents’ California tax returns along with their California driver’s licenses or state IDs?

3. Financial Dependence: As a dependent student, would my parents’ tax returns mentioned above satisfy this requirement?

4. Immigration Status: Would a U.S. birth certificate or passport be acceptable?

(Context: I'm 17 years old, with no CA ID or driver's license. I also already emailed the residency deputy email, but worried about not getting an answer in time.)

If someone could help me, I would appreciate it a lot!

Hi everyone, I'm a current high school senior in LA County, and looking for advice/input from UCSB students since college admission deadlines are in 4 days. I was accepted under Pre-Economics and Accounting (a large factor why I applied was because UCSB was one of the few UC's w/a specific accounting major) and this school is definitely one of my top choices.

I was originally going to go to my local CC to transfer to a UC through the TAG program to save $$, however I've been contemplating my options. My local CC is VERY VERY close to my high school, home, and where I currently work. This was originally a pro for me when considering CC, however, my mental health has been pretty poor this year (maybe it's because I'm a senior LOL) and I feel that a change of environment would be good for me, which is why I'm considering my 4-year options.

My annual estimated balance in UCSB for my 1st year is ~45k, but it's about 17-20k after grants. SB is about 2 hours away from where I live, so close enough to visit home, but distant enough to feel its difference in scenery.

However, I had some concerns regarding the social/cultural scene here in Isla Vista. I've heard that there are really only 3 pastimes/activities students can do outside of campus:

  1. Party, 2) Sports, 3) Beaching

Personally, these don't resonate with me, and I'm afraid I would not have a good time here, or that I would gaslight myself into thinking I am. I enjoy the "city-life" (and being a homebody), which is why I was leaning towards UCI, though I was waitlisted. I'm aware that UCSB is very socially active and provides tons of opportunities to make friends, but I'm worried I won't fit in, or if that I'll be socially isolated/lonely. My parents are supportive of either decision, but believe I should attend UCSB for at least my first year to experience/test the waters, and then come back home + go to CC if I didn't enjoy it. I would feel horrible to waste their money, but maybe I'll like UCSB despite my worries?

Sorry for the long rant---for anyone reading, please give me your own 2 cents!..
