I just completed my bachelor degree in EE under this uni which stands between 500-600 in global ranking. I also did a 6month internship during my time in the uni.
To give a bit of context, I did my capstone project under this academic professor, and he offered a position of a research engineer under him. During my time with him, I did learn new stuff from him and he's patient in guiding me through the capstone project.
So according to him, that position involves designing as solutions for a real world problems in the industry. However he expects me to study until my PhD while working under him.
I did a bit of research and found that the salary he offered is slightly below the market rate.
Therefore, I would like to know what are the career prospects for a research engineer? Is it worth to study until PhD while being in that position? Or should I apply for other jobs in the industry?
