How to handle "stealth" travel to India? Need to visit a friend without family finding out later.

Good morning, fellow travellers. I need some "brown person" logistics advice.

I’m flying from Canada to India soon to be there for my best friend. She’s going through it right now, and I need to be her support system. However, I am NOT telling my family I’m coming. I’m seeing them on a separate trip next year.

In my family, "friendship" isn't a valid excuse to fly across the world if you aren't also stopping by to see your 2nd cousins. If they find out I was in India and didn’t visit them, I’ll never hear the end of it.

My massive hurdle: The passport stamps. When I visit them next year, they will check my passport. They’re nosy like that.

  1. Is there any way to get through Indian immigration and depart Canada without a physical stamp?
  2. If I’m stuck with the stamps, what’s the best "brown lie" or cover story for a random 1-week entry/exit a year prior?

I don't want to do anything illegal or damage my passport, but I really need to protect my peace while being there for my friend. HELP!
