I’ve built this mailbox using pressure treated wood and have a few questions because I can’t seem to find definitive answers online.

1. Should I sand this before staining? I’ve seen it helps the stain adhere better, but also heard PT wood isn’t supposed to be sanded for safety reasons. Could I just sand it using proper protective gear and attached to the shop vac?

2. When will I know it’s ready to be stained? I’ve tried the water test and it still beads up (see image) but I’ve had it for well over a month at this point.
