Did Naomi “change” FoxDie to kill Snake? Nobody seems to give the same answer
I apologize if this post gets a confusing as the average metal gear game: So in MGS1, Naomi injects Snake with FOXDIE to take out Foxhound - sure. The government seems to be behind this and my impression due to Liquids speech before the MG Rex fight was that the government wanted to not just kill them, but Snake as well so they can come in and take Rex for themselves with no witnesses - not even snake. I thought Naomi just created it because she wanted to use it on snake to get payback for her brother and Big Boss. However, I’ve been watching people on YouTube explain the lore ever since I beat the game, and I noticed they all said Naomi changed FOXDIE to kill Snake as well, but at a random time as revenge. But that didn’t make sense to me because I thought they already wanted Snake dead, and I never remembered Naomi saying she changed it ever. In fact, I rewatched her CODEC confessions and noticed she stayed strangely silent and never explicitly saying that. Even at the end she just tells him to live and dodges the question. It seems like that info was taken from “In the Darkness of Shadow Moses” from MGS2, but then again, I’ve seen many people dispute whether the book is factual or not since it’s Natasha’s limited POV. I then saw a interesting Reddit thread from a user who seemed to know his shit saying the alteration Naomi made wasn’t to kill Snake, but instead to keep Ocelot alive (seems like that may have been the intention due to MGS4) and that he wasn’t ever a target. AND THEN I’ve seen discourse of people saying “of course the government wanted him alive he’s a good soldier” etc. I mean shit I saw a few posts saying Naomi changed it halfway through the game to keep Snake alive because character development so wtf is the actual canon here? Otherwise I’m just gonna believe my original theory.
…I mean the real answer is “The Patriots made sure everything went according to plan” but that’s just lazy
