Help to restart my journey

Hello everyone,

I’m new here. I came to this “sub” because I want to experience astral projection again. It’s been almost 10 years since I had my first out-of-body experiences. Back then, I was part of one of those esoteric groups where, at some point, they taught us techniques for astral projection. Due to certain circumstances in my life, I had to stop just as I was starting to experiment with it. I moved to another city, and on top of that, my partner didn’t like me doing that kind of thing, so it was easy for me to give up the practice. But now I can’t stop thinking about what might have been if I had continued my spiritual journey. Astral projection was just one step on the path, but it had a huge impact on me. I can say it changed the way I see life. It’s one thing to read or hear that you have another body besides the physical one, but to actually experience seeing and hearing when your eyes and ears are in your physical body and you are far away from it—that’s something truly striking.

What I used to do was go to bed when I wasn’t sleepy, lie down in a comfortable, relaxed position, normalize my breathing as if I were asleep, and simply wait until I reached the point where I stopped feeling gravity in my body. After that, I would get out of bed and I was already outside my body. I probably succeeded about half the times I tried (though in reality, I only tried a few times).

Now, here’s the problem: In the few times I did get out, I couldn’t stay outside my body for long—maybe less than two minutes. For example, I would get out of bed, see myself lying there, go through the door into the hallway, head to the living room, and sometimes my parents would be awake watching TV or something. I remember the first time I looked at the living room clock with the intention of returning to my body to check the time. But after looking at the clock, I remembered that I’d been told that if I jumped, I would fall very slowly, like a balloon full of air. So I tried it. I jumped, but I think I did it off-balance because as I fell slowly, my body kept turning over. I was about to land on my side, and I think that made me go back—it scared me (silly, I know). On another occasion, I ran into my dad in the hallway. He was walking toward me and passed right through me like I was a ghost, and that made me return to my body.

I thought about posting here because I wanted to know if you have any advice on how to stay out longer. Also, I wanted to know how you manage to travel long distances once you’re out of your body—I mean, go to another country or something like that. Is it possible? And how?
