I had been using my Indeed resume and honestly never gave it much thought. When I finally looked at it through an employer’s eyes, I realized it really was not as good as I thought it was. I was honestly embarrassed that I ever thought it was acceptable. Now I understand why people get paid to do resumes.
I spent the last five hours doing the best I could to make what I hope is a winning resume, and I would really appreciate it if you could tell me where I went wrong and how I can make it even better.
I was a housekeeper/business owner for 15 years. When COVID hit, I started doing telemarketing and merchandising jobs. I also have gaps in my work history because of a past drug problem, but today I am in recovery and doing better than ever.
Since then, I got my Peer Support certifications along with a few other certificates in that field. I’m hoping to finally use them for something meaningfu, something I can relate to and something with people who understand felonies and gaps in employment history.
My goal is to work as an overnight Peer Recovery Support Specialist in detox centers, rehabs, or intensive outpatient programs. I also have my sober house manager certificate, but I’m not really looking for a live-in position, at least not full time.
Wanting to help others in recovery is real for me, but I’ll be honest, it also helps keep me strong in my own recovery. It reminds me every day why I chose to stop using drugs in the first place.
Thank you for taking the time to help me today.
