Joining with prior EMT/Fire Cert

I’m 32 years old and have been working as EMT based in Los Angeles for a little while now after making a huge career change. I’m also about to get my certificate in fire technology. My partner one day at work told me he was thinking about talking to a recruiter because of the fire protection job the Air Force has. I was kind of interested because I didn’t even really think about it and once I found out all the Certs that you can get it seemed really appealing to me. Long story short scored good on the PiCAT now I’ll be going to MEPS most likely this week or next week for clearance. Recruiter was also telling me because of prior experience and having over 1000 hours means I can get the chance to get my paramedic license. Was curious if anyone else has been in my position before and what tech school would be like? I know they take the EMR test so would I still need to do that even though I have a higher scope already? Has anyone been sent to paramedic school that wasn’t a PJ but was in fire in the DoD? Do they have ALS units in fire?
