I am a FTM of an almost 6 month old. He is exclusively receiving breast milk at the moment through a combination of pumping and breastfeeding. He mostly drinks from the bottle but will go to the breast when I can't be bothered heating up milk, when he needs comfort and before bed at night. He can go for naps fine with bottle and/or without feeding if too tired.

In July we will spend about 10 days away from each other (long story, seems inevitable atm).

I intend to leave him with a substantial amount of milk. (I have a good supply frozen and by then he will also be having solids so I expect he will need less of it on a daily basis).

My question is, how realistic is it that we will manage to maintain some breastfeeding after spending such a long time apart? Has anyone done something similar? Whould I start planning to wean him of the breast sooner rather than later? I would love to keep at least the comfort feeds until he is a bit older...
