Yes, this was corny. But that’s because Chihiro is purposefully being edgy here. After 3 years of kagurabachi we have gained a better understanding of who Chihiro is as a person and his character and being edgy isn’t like him.

Chihiro is a good natured person through and through. He might be stone faced most of the times, but his heart is of gold which makes this quote really hit different when you see him try to be cold and brooding on purpose .

He’s trying everything to hold onto this anger, but it’s not for himself but for his father. The love that he has for his father is so big he’s willing to become something he’s not, a man driven by hatred.

I just thought that was interesting.
