Bariloche or Villa La Angostura

We are visiting in the summer and are wondering where the best base for us might be for 3 nights. We are looking for variety in activities not just hiking. I was thinking e-bikes around Circuto Chico, maybe a hike to Refugio Frey, maybe some kayaking. Since we are a bit late in planning, accommodations are looking skimpy. I have better options in La Angostura, but I think we will be fine in Bariloche staying a bit out of town near the Circuto Chico. If we stay in La Angostura I think we will find a nice hike there instead of Refugio Frey. We are planning to have a car, and we could do some driving as well. I’m actually open to other suggestions as well, but I just don’t want to get too far from the airport since our time is limited.
We are traveling with my 17-21 year old kids who I’m sure will want to walk around and be out a bit after I’m in bed. Does either town have a bit more of a vibe? Any compelling reason to choose one over the other?
