For those who read A Long Time Dead: does it get better?

**SPOILERS FOR THOSE WHO HAVE NOT READ THIS BOOK, READ AT YOUR OWN PERIL**

So I’m about exactly halfway through this book and I totally lost interest when Roisin and Poppy separated. I would say I definitely tend to like slow burn, unspoken yearning, very intense will they won’t they vibes with testing of platonic boundaries.

The first half was by no means fine literature, but I enjoyed it a lot compared to the sort of hedonistic (no shade if u liked it, just don’t find a lot of the new side characters interesting) side quest Poppy has been sent on the last few chapters. I definitely like some spice, and enjoyed her chapter with Carmen, but I don’t have it in me to read the rest of the book if it’s all spice with no sugar 😭

Does it get better? I’m so close I should probably power through, but Gideon the Ninth is up next and I’m itching to be addicted to a book again.
