as the title suggests, my parents are buying me (25M) my first watch as a Law School graduation gift. They said it could be anything as long as it’s sub $10k but ideally around $5k.
I tend to prefer leather straps so I was leaning towards an Omega Constellation (with a Pie-Pan dial haha). But I have recently been really into the Cartier Santos on a leather strap. My friend is telling me to go with a classic Rolex Air King or a vintage Datejust. Which I do love (obviously), but I don’t want to just get the “uniform watch” that every young business guy has. I have seen people putting a vintage Datejust on a leather strap which seems really cool.
As a younger guy, I just wanted to see what some Vets in the watch community thought could be a good first watch. Something that can signal to older guys that I appreciate watches a strike a conversation.
I’m open to any suggestions! I like vintage watch’s much more than new ones🫡
