For context: My great grandfather was part of the 1st Leningrad (Kirov) Militia Division formed upon the onset of the June 22nd invasion. He was deployed to Novgorod and then the front where the Germans were advancing on Leningrad itself (this is before the siege had begun). His unit sustained extremely heavy casualties on the approach, he was hit twice by small arms fire, one in the leg, and one in the arm, but he survived and was sent to a army hospital where he spent nearly the remainder of the war. I have his ribbons and medals but not sure what each one is and what it is awarded for.
