My 8 year old amano shrimp has sadly died, seemingly due to old age. This was one of my very first shrimp ever, my dad bought her 8 years ago (approximately, my first photo of her dates to 2018) with two other females and a male. The male is still alive and thriving, the other two females died a long time ago. This shrimp has seen me do tank restarts, beginner errors, has seen fish come and go and was one of my favorite animals in the tank.

I feel like I hit the jackpot with this one, I made so many errors, so many negligence during puberty, yet, she still survived and was thriving until she passed. None of my other fish and shrimp show any signs of problems whatsoever and my parameters are right where they should be, so I am certain that it was due to old age.

If you ever think about getting amano shrimp, just do it, they are not as hard to keep as many people say and, quite frankly, where I live they are easier to keep than neocaridina (due to my extremely hard tap water).
